every brilliant thing

You’re six years old. Mum’s in hospital. Dad says she’s “done something stupid.” She finds it hard to be happy. So you start to make a list of everything that’s brilliant about the world. Everything that’s worth living for.

1. Ice cream.

2. Things with Stripes

3. Rollercoasters.

4. Laughing so hard you shoot milk out your nose.

5. The Colour Yellow

6. Me.

You leave it on her pillow. You know she’s read it because she’s corrected your spelling. Soon, the list will take on a life of its own.

A play about depression and the lengths we will go to for those we love.

“A heart-wrenching, hilarious play…One of the funniest plays you’ll ever see about depression—and possibly one of the funniest plays you’ll ever see, full stop…There is something tough being confronted here—the guilt of not being able to make those we love happy—and it is explored with unflinching honesty.” —The Guardian (UK)

“Watched “Every Brilliant Thing” in Llandogo this evening ..Wow it was brilliant! Mark took us on a journey from tears to tears of laughter.. he performed convincingly and believably and had everyone in the audience on his side and rooting for him. A difficult subject matter dealt with beautifully!” – J.Martyn (UK)

WHITE RABBIT
RED RABBIT

With no rehearsals, no director, a different actor each night, and a script waiting in a sealed envelope on stage, internationally acclaimed White Rabbit Red Rabbit, by Iranian writer Nassim Soleimanpour, is an audacious theatrical experiment and a potent reminder of the transgressive and transformative power of theatre.

Forbidden to leave his native Iran, Soleimanpour wrote a play which travelled the world in his place. The audience joins each different performer on a journey into the unknown; stumbling upon the personal and profound, the limits of liberty and ultimately where theatre can take you.

Since its joint premiere in 2011, the play has been translated into over 25 different languages and has been performed over 1000 times by some of the biggest names in theatre and film, including actors Whoopi GoldbergNathan LaneJohn Hurt, Simon McBurney, Stephen Fry, Sinead Cusack, Marcus Brigstocke and Ken Loach.

We were delighted to have the world premier of the show in Khmer as well as French.
