Thursday 9th May 2024 19:30 – Speakeasy Theatre, Phnom Penh

The Banksy Job is a 2016 documentary film directed by Ian Roderick Gray and Dylan Harvey about how self-described “art terrorist” Andy Link (AK47) stole Banksy’s 2004 sculpture, The Drinker.

Be scared, because on May 9th we will present the Phnom Penh premiere of “the bansky job” – and that’s not all… we will have the privilege, or the misfortune, of meeting the artist AK-47, the generator of controversy , Andy Link.

About Andy :

“I’m a Yorkshireman, and a conceptual artist known as ‘AK47’. I’ve had a couple of shows in Shoreditch but I don’t really do art for sale – for me, it’s a lifestyle, not a profession. I just like to cause mayhem! I’d say my art is taking the piss. I run an art terrorist organisation called ‘Art Kieda’ – we bomb stuff with art and graffiti.

They’ve just made a documentary about the time, 12 years ago, when I nicked a Banksy sculpture off the street. It’s called ‘The Banksy Job

“I used to be a pornographer. I did really well, I had my own series on one of the cable TV channels – The Adventures of a Northern Lad. My porn star name was Bobby Tupper. Once I realised that I was good at it, I’d proved a point to myself, I moved on to more serious art. Now I like to think that was my Jeff Koons period. I’m not ashamed of anything I’ve done before.”
