“I used to be a pornographer. I did really well, I had my own series on one of the cable TV channels – The Adventures of a Northern Lad. My porn star name was Bobby Tupper. Once I realised that I was good at it, I’d proved a point to myself, I moved on to more serious art. Now I like to think that was my Jeff Koons period. I’m not ashamed of anything I’ve done before.”
